Helping Veterans Isn’t Just My Job, It’s My Passion.

Improving Treatment for Service Members: A Personal Advocacy Journey

Since retiring in 2018, my mission has been to improve treatment for service members. My journey as an independent advocate has been fueled by experience and dedication, leading to significant impacts within the military system. Through my '20 Years Done' Blog and Podcast, I've successfully lobbied the Senate Armed Services Committee to commission a critical study on military suicide rates by job code, a vital step towards understanding and mitigating these tragedies.

This endeavor is crucial for pinpointing specific stressors in various military roles, enabling the development of tailored support and interventions. The insights gained will inform policy changes, aiming to significantly enhance the lives of those in service.

My advocacy extends beyond data and reports; it's a heartfelt commitment to reforming military culture, emphasizing mental health, and supporting service members in every aspect. I advocate for a military environment that nurtures well-being and growth, free from stigmas around seeking help.

Parallel to these efforts, I'm dedicated to assisting veterans in securing disability benefits for service-connected injuries. This legal advocacy ensures that veterans are fairly compensated for their service and sacrifices.

As an independent advocate, I embrace a holistic approach combining policy reform, cultural change, and legal support. My dedication to service members and veterans is steadfast, and I am committed to advocating for their rights and well-being.

Together, we can foster a military culture that celebrates service, supports well-being, and honors the sacrifices of those who protect our freedoms.
